Harrison joins team as Brand Development Director


SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. –MAY 23, 2016– Outdoor Retailer, the largest summer and winter outdoor gear, apparel, accessories and technology tradeshow, announced today that industry veteran Larry Harrison has joined the staff as Brand Development Director.

Harrison, who recently retired from adidas Outdoor as their Director of Sales, brings more than 40 years of industry knowledge and relationship building to his new role. He has worked with an array of notable brands that include Eagle Creek, JanSport, Lowa, Rockport, Sierra Designs and Wilderness Experience. Harrison also served for 10 years on the Outdoor Industry Association Board of Directors and three years as the first male member of the Outdoor Industry Women’s Coalition Board.

“Outdoor Retailer strives to provide specialty retailers with an exceptional experience at our events and we will benefit from the insights and historical perspective that Larry brings,” said Marisa Nicholson, OR VP and Show Director, “We were thrilled to cut his retirement short for the betterment of the industry.”

Harrison will work closely with retailers, reps and manufacturers to ensure the tradeshow meets their disparate requirements. He will also lend his expertise to the sales and retail relations teams at Outdoor Retailer.

“I have been on a truly rewarding journey in our business and a change of focus from building a retail network to service and support, with the goal of a stronger industry it seems natural as I extend my career,” said Harrison. “Outdoor Retailer has an amazing team, passionate about creating a tight knit community of retailers, reps and brands to enliven the outdoor experience for the community.”

It is expected that Harrison will be traveling frequently listening to the many voices of the outdoor industry. “Expect me to appear at your door or regional show,” he said, “I want to hear what you have to say.”
