San Juan Capistrano, CA – September 26, 2016
– Outdoor Retailer and the Outdoor Foundation are pleased to announce that they are once again partnering to bring the Give Back Badge program back to Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2017. This unique program is designed to fund kids to get outdoors to visit their local national park.

It’s quick and easy to participate. When registering for Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2017, attendees and exhibitors are asked to make a pledge to fund one child’s effort to get to a park. Pledge dollars will go to fund regional projects across the country that have submitted their need for support through the Outdoor Foundation’s Parks4Kids website. If every Outdoor Retailer attendee participates, the program will connect 23,000 youth to the outdoors, resulting in greater outdoor participation and the overall growth of the industry. All pledge amounts are encouraged and welcomed.

For a $15 pledge, to fund national, state and local park visits, participants will receive a commemorative, originally designed Outdoor Retailer patch featuring limited edition artwork from famed outdoor industry notable and 2015 Outdoor Inspiration award winner, Jeremy Collins. Collins is a climber, artist, and activist. He is recognized for living the outdoor lifestyle and embracing the values and gifts that the outdoor experience has provided him. His work has been featured on the cover of National Geographic, and shown in the Ansel Adams Gallery. He is an award winning producer of "soul-adventure" films, and has been recognized for first ascent climbs all over the world.

“Outdoor Retailer, is pleased to support the efforts of the Outdoor Foundation to get kids out to their national parks. Outdoor participation exposes children to valuable lessons in social responsibility, sustainability, leadership skills, and much more,” said Marisa Nicholson, VP and Outdoor Retailer Show Director. “By adding a link to the Outdoor Retailer registration page the entire outdoor industry can easily participate in the program, and share their passion for the outdoors with kids that may otherwise not have an opportunity to visit our national parks and learn the lessons that only this ‘classroom’ can offer.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with Outdoor Retailer in galvanizing the industry in support of outdoor experiences for young people,” said Chris Fanning, executive director of Outdoor Foundation. “It is our goal that every single Outdoor Retailer attendee support Parks4Kids and receive a Give Back Badge. There is nothing more important to the future of the outdoor industry and the health of our public lands and outdoor sanctuaries than inspiring a new generation of outdoor enthusiasts.”

Registration for Exhibitors, Specialty Retailers, Reps, and Media is now open. Visit the Outdoor Retailer registration page to register for Outdoor Retailer Winter Market set to stage January 10-12, 2017 and make a pledge.
