Outdoor Retailer Summer Opens Next Week in Denver

Outdoor community to gather again with new opportunities to connect and learn
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, California – Outdoor Retailer returns to Denver next week when the summer show opens at the Colorado Convention Center. From August 10-12, 2021, the outdoor community will reunite to do business, learn from industry experts, and discover new gear in-person. The show will feature new zones, outdoor events, and a full lineup of outdoor industry education.
“After more than a year apart, we’re looking forward to reconnecting with the outdoor community in Denver,” said Marisa Nicholson, Outdoor Retailer senior vice president and show director. “The show remains the biggest opportunity for our industry to come together to build relationships, find new brands and products for stores, and share ideas. These three days together will offer valuable ways for the community to grow and build a stronger foundation for the future.”
Outdoor Retailer Summer includes more than 140 new exhibitors as it returns to live. The new dedicated Fresh zone will highlight a curated group of first-time exhibitors. Also debuting at the show is the outdoor Basecamp zone for events, networking, food trucks, and Summit Coffee.
The popular Venture Out area remains a destination for retailers to discover and explore modern outdoor trends. In collaboration with RANGE, Venture Out includes three trend displays representing the themes “From the Archive,” “Purpose Driven Utility,” and “Sustainable Standards” to help represent how the definition of outdoor is changing.
Over the show’s three days, the schedule has a complete lineup of education sessions. Outdoor leaders and subject-matter experts will deliver wide-ranging conversations on retail and the outdoor industry, including panels with Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) and Snowsports Industries America (SIA). This summer’s education is accessible both on site and online, and all pre-show webinars are available now.
Night 2 of the show, Wednesday, August 11, will feature a Watch Party for the 11th annual Outdoor Retailer Inspiration Awards, recognizing those that inspire and connect others to outdoor recreation. This year’s recipients will be unveiled during the Watch Party (begins at 6 p.m. MT) and on the Outdoor Retailer YouTubechannel (begins at 6:30 p.m. MT). Meet the finalists here.
Among the other events and activities at the show:
- The Outdoor Industry Association Industry Breakfast opens the show with a keynote from bestselling author and founder of the global consultancy Retail Prophet, Doug Stephens. He will provide an incisive look into the future of retail in a post-COVID-19 world. The breakfast takes place on Day 1, Tuesday, August 10, at 7 a.m. in the 400 Meeting Rooms at the Colorado Convention Center.
- GATHER by Basecamp Outdoor, a Networking Event + Happy Hour: Basecamp Outdoor, the popular online community, will be live and in-person for the first time at Outdoor Retailer. All Basecamp members are invited to join the free curated speed networking event followed by an informal happy hour on Tuesday, August 10 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Learn more and register here to attend.
- 5Point Adventure Film returns to Denver to bring a curated selection of the year’s most impactful, outdoor adventure films along with a fitting lineup of industry experts and personalities, including filmmakers and film subjects. - Back by popular demand, Summit Coffee Company is stationed at both Venture Out and Basecamp serving up espresso and coffee drinks, including mobile ordering. A free Affogato Happy Hour takes place in Venture Out every day from 3-4 p.m., featuring Summit Coffee’s award-winning espresso paired with soft-serve ice cream from Oatly.
- Tuesday, August 10, at 11 a.m., enjoy free lunch provided by Quivers. Grab a sandwich or salad, enter a raffle in support of SheJumps, and learn more about how Quivers can help brands connect to consumers.
- On Wednesday, August 11 at 2 p.m., Elastic Suite will host a panel discussion on “The Future of B2B: Building Better Relationships Between Brands and Buyers.” Brands and retailers can also visit Elastic on the show floor in booth 44036-UL, and clients can connect with the Elastic team, work, or relax in the Elastic Lounge in Meeting Room 204.
In addition, attendees can join a morning run and online morning yoga, demo bikes on the Test Track, stop by Tent City, visit with nonprofits, and grab both breakfast and lunch from food trucks in the outdoor Basecamp lot. The team from The Daily will also be on the show floor in booth 51001-UL and publishing a new issue each day of the show.
