Finalists Announced For Third Annual Outdoor Retailer Innovation Awards

Ceremony to reveal the winners to be hosted by L. Renee Blount during Winter Online
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, California – (December 9, 2020) – Outdoor Retailer unveiled the finalists for the third annual Outdoor Retailer Innovation Awards today. The panel of judges narrowed down a record number submissions of outdoor and winter sports products, materials, and retail programs to 34 finalists selected based on their design, functionality, and impact to advance to the final round. Winners will be announced on Thursday, January 21, 2021, in a ceremony during Outdoor Retailer Winter Online.
“The Outdoor Retailer Innovation Awards entrants and finalists demonstrate there are solutions to challenges, and that through ingenuity and determination we can create a better, more accessible outdoor experience,” said Marisa Nicholson, Outdoor Retailer senior vice president and show director. “These products point us toward a brighter future, and we are looking forward to celebrating the 34 finalists throughout Winter Online.”
The judging panel evaluated the 189 entrants based on four criteria — Spark: concept, design, appeal; Desire: opportunity, differentiation; Function: innovation, functionality, insight; and Impact: cultural, environmental, business. Hosting this year’s Outdoor Retailer Innovation Awards ceremony is Harvard-trained designer, photographer, and climber L. Renee Blount. She works simultaneously in innovation and brand consulting and storytelling, helping make the outdoors more accessible through joy. She will reveal the winners in an online ceremony at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT on January 21 during the Summit Days of Winter Online.
All finalists will be on display in an online Innovation Gallery through the duration of Winter Online, which kicks off on January 6, 2021, and runs through March 19, 2021.
Registration is open for Winter Online. The new digital marketplace and online experience connects the outdoor and winter sports industries this winter as the place to discover new brands and products, learn from experts, and network with the community. Access to education, events, and networking is free with registration. Winter Online opens on January 6, 2021, with key Summit Days from January 20-23, and ongoing engagement and education through March 19.
