Get Ready. Get Inspired. See You In Denver.

Plans for the in-person Outdoor Retailer Summer Show continue to gain momentum as the country opens up. Here are the latest updates on how to attend and what to expect.

INSPIRATION AWARDS

It’s time again to celebrate champions and changemakers in the outdoor community at the 11th annual Outdoor Retailer Inspiration Awards. Nominations are now being accepted for the people, brands, retailers, and organizations making an impact.

The nomination period is open through June 23, and it’s free to nominate at outdoorretailer.com/inspirationawards.

The annual awards are presented to those guiding others to outdoor recreation opportunities, and recipients are recognized in five categories: individual, manufacturer, nonprofit, retailer, and a new emerging leader award. The emerging leader category identifies a talented young individual who exhibits leadership and service to the greater outdoor community early in their career.

“Over the past year, we’ve witnessed so many people turn to the outdoors. Now we have an opportunity to honor those dedicated to motivating and equipping others to embrace these outdoor experiences,” says Marisa Nicholson, Outdoor Retailer senior vice president and show director.

This year’s recipients will be announced during an online ceremony held on the second night of Outdoor Retailer Summer in Denver. A live watch party will take place in the Basecamp outdoor space adjacent to theColorado Convention Center, or viewers can tune in via YouTube on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at 6:30p.m. MT.

BASECAMP

Basecamp is the new outdoor gathering space at OutdoorRetailer this August. Located adjacent to the convention center, Basecamp is a place where attendees can stop by to enjoy a latte from Summit Coffee, grab a bite to eat at food trucks, meetup with colleagues, and network at happy hours. Yoga sessions are offered here, and Night 2 at Basecamp will feature music along with the Inspiration Awards Watch Party.

FRESH

Also blooming at Outdoor Retailer this summer is Fresh. A new show area, Fresh will introduce buyers and media to new brands and first-time exhibitors. For retailers looking to diversify store offerings and attract customers with new products all year, this is a must-visit on the show floor.

EDUCATION

Education for Outdoor Retailer Summer kicks off online in July. With two sessions per week leading up to the in-person Show days, attendees have an opportunity to dive into trends and consumer data to be ready for productive meetings at the Show.

The pre-Show webinar lineup begins on July 8 with the NPD Group discussing post-pandemic retail. Over the next four weeks, Education runs every Tuesday and Thursday, including Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) sessions on climate action and policy. Also plan for trend insight from Fashion Snoops and a chance to explore an outdoor future with WGSN.

In Denver, learning opportunities will continue with in-person sessions that will also be broadcast online. Find the full online and in-person schedule here. Next month’s issue of Outdoor Retailer will list the complete pre-Show lineup.

Register here to attend Outdoor Retailer Summer this Aug. 10–12 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.

Brands interested in exhibiting can contact their account executive, and more information on the Show, including the health and safety plan, is available at outdoorretailer.com
